Students in Perlis can have online one-to-one Cambridge IGCSE tuition at home. A teacher is assigned to your child and lessons run over video.
Perlis is the smallest state in Malaysia, and it has a single district, also called Perlis. That is worth knowing because, for a small state, the question is rarely which town you live in. It is usually how much IGCSE-specific help is easy to reach from where you study.
Which parts of Perlis do we serve?
We serve students across Perlis. The towns most people ask about are Kangar, Arau and Padang Besar, and a student in a village outside them joins the same way: a device, a steady connection and a quiet corner.
Padang Besar sits at the northern border, and Kangar is the state capital. Neither matters to an online lesson. What matters is whether your connection holds for a full hour.
What changes when IGCSE help is online?
A student who wants a particular subject, such as Additional Mathematics or a language, is not limited to what is offered nearby. An experienced teacher for that subject is assigned to you, and the lesson is planned around your own paper, not a class average.
This is helpful when your school covers the syllabus at its own pace and you need to go faster on one weak topic, or slower on another. Bring a past question that stopped you, and the teacher can start from there.
Checking your internet and setup
Do the online-lesson readiness check before the trial. Test video and sound on the device you will use, and keep a second way to connect, such as a mobile hotspot, in case the home line drops.
Keep paper and a pen within reach. For Maths, Physics and Chemistry, a phone camera pointed at handwritten working is often more useful than typing.
Weekday timing and your school calendar
Lesson times are arranged directly between you and your teacher after the trial. Bring your school timetable, your co-curricular days and any tuition already in your week, so the teacher can suggest a slot that you can keep.
School holiday dates and term dates come from your own school, so check the calendar your school issues rather than relying on a general list.
Exam centre: what to ask your own centre
Registration, entry, results and access arrangements belong to your centre and to Cambridge. Questions worth asking your centre:
- Which exam series do you enter candidates for, and what is the entry deadline?
- Are there extra fees for private candidates or for practical and speaking components?
- Where and when will the papers be sat, and what should I bring on the day?
The private-candidate readiness checklist helps you organise these answers, and our exam guidance explains who is responsible for each step.
