Who does this tuition suit?
Business can look like a subject you can learn from notes. The marks, though, go to answers that use the case. One-to-one teaching suits students in situations like these:
- You can define every term but the answer stays general. You write what a “loan” or “advertising” is, and the marker wanted to know what it means for this business.
- Your advantages and disadvantages could fit any company. Replace the business name and the paragraph still reads the same.
- Your conclusion sits apart from the question. You finish with “it depends”, or recommend something that ignores the owner’s objective.
- Profit and cash keep getting mixed up. A business shows a profit on paper and still cannot pay its bills, and that does not yet make sense.
- You are unsure which syllabus applies to you. The Business Studies 0450 and Business 0264 labels appear in different places, and your exam year decides which one you follow.
- You are a parent who sees long hours of reading. Your child knows the notes well, yet the written answers do not seem to reflect it.

What can one-to-one teaching address in Business?
A teacher can read your answer with you, sentence by sentence, and ask “which fact from the case does this use?” That is the main advantage of individual teaching. Here is an original example of how it looks, using a fictional case.
A teaching example: the same answer, generic and applied
Fictional case. Sari Kuih is a small home-based business selling boxes of kuih. It sells about 200 boxes a week at RM12 each. The variable cost of ingredients and packaging is RM6 a box. The kitchen can make at most 250 boxes a week with the current owner and one helper. A hotel group offers an order of 1,000 boxes at RM9 each, to be delivered over four weeks and paid 60 days after delivery. The owner’s main objective this year is to survive without borrowing.
Question: Should Sari Kuih accept the order?
A generic answer:
Accepting the order will increase sales revenue and the business will grow. More customers will know about the brand, so profit will increase. Therefore Sari Kuih should accept.
Every sentence might be true of any business. It names no figure from the case and never mentions the objective.
An applied answer:
The hotel price of RM9 is RM3 above the RM6 variable cost, so each box adds RM3, against RM6 from a normal customer. The 1,000 boxes add RM3,000 in total. But the kitchen makes at most 250 boxes a week, and 200 are already sold, so only about 50 extra boxes a week fit, which is 200 over four weeks. Sari Kuih would need extra staff or shifts to reach 1,000, and that cost is not in the RM6. The hotel also pays 60 days later, while ingredients cost about RM6,000 in advance. Since the owner wants to survive without borrowing, the cash gap is the biggest risk. Sari Kuih should accept only a smaller first order, or ask for part payment early, because otherwise the order may create a profit on paper and a cash shortage in practice.
Check the numbers: 1,000 × RM9 = RM9,000 revenue; 1,000 × RM6 = RM6,000 variable cost; the difference is RM3,000. Capacity left is 250 − 200 = 50 boxes a week, and 50 × 4 = 200 boxes.
The teacher does not stop at the better answer. They ask you to mark which phrase in it came from the case, which phrase is a concept (contribution, capacity, cash flow), and which phrase is the judgement. Then you write the same kind of answer for a different case.

What individual teaching does not do
Honest limits matter.
A teacher cannot write your answers for you, and the lesson does not replace practice under timed conditions. We do not promise a particular grade. The teacher explains concepts and permissible preparation, and your school work must stay your own.
How does a lesson usually work?
Every student is different, so the teacher adapts. A typical paid trial hour has a clear shape.
- Start from your work. You share an answer that lost marks or a topic that keeps failing. If you have nothing ready, the teacher sets a short original case.
- Find the exact sentence. The teacher asks what each point says about this business, which shows where the answer turns general.
- Rebuild with a fresh case. A different business tests whether the repaired habit holds.
- Decide the next focus. The hour ends with something to try before the next lesson, if you continue.

Will the teaching go beyond definitions?
This is the question we hear most from Business students, and it is a fair one. Some help stops at “learn the term, write the term”. That can give you a good notebook and an answer that still earns few marks.
Our teachers work from the case outwards. They ask what the business sells, who its customers are, what its objective is and what figures are given. Then they ask which concept helps and what it means for this business.
The last step is the one that turns a point into an evaluation: a consequence, and then a judgement tied to the objective. The paid trial is a direct way to see this yourself, because you will watch how the teacher handles your own answer.

Business Studies 0450 or Business 0264: which applies to you?
Cambridge lists Business Studies 0450 for its applicable examination years and Business 0264 for first assessment in 2027. Search results and school paperwork may use either name, so do not choose by the name you see first. Select the syllabus by the exam year you are entered for, and confirm it with your school or exam centre.
