Comparing tuition is easier when you first write down what your child needs, then see which option fits. Prices only make sense after that, because a cheaper option that misses the real gap still costs time.
On this site, the first step is a paid one-hour trial starting from RM80, at the assigned teacher’s confirmed rate. Ongoing fees are not listed here. They are arranged directly between your child and the teacher after the trial.
What should you write down before comparing anything?
Four things make a fair comparison. Write them in plain words, not marks or grades.
- The subject and the syllabus code. For example, Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580. Check your child’s school for the exact code.
- The actual gap. “Can follow in class but freezes on unseen questions” is more useful than “weak in Maths”.
- The date that matters. A school exam, a mock or the Cambridge session your child’s exam centre has entered them for.
- The time your child really has. Include co-curricular activities, rest and family commitments.
The learner-owned subject priority worksheet lays these out in one table. It leaves unknown items blank instead of assuming they are compulsory.
How do the options usually differ?
The table is a guide to the questions worth asking, not a verdict on any option.
- Who sets the pace? Self-study: your child. Group class: the class. Online one-to-one: your child and the teacher.
- Can the explanation change mid-lesson? Self-study: only if you pause and search. Group class: limited. One-to-one: yes.
- How often does your child speak or ask? Group class: depends on class size. One-to-one: throughout.
- Fixed timetable? Group class: usually set by the provider. One-to-one: arranged with the teacher.
Self-study may be enough when your child is on track and only needs practice. A group class may suit a child who learns well alongside others. One-to-one is worth considering when the gap is specific and keeps returning.
What should you ask about ongoing arrangements?
Ask every provider the same questions, including us, and write the answers down.
- What is covered in the first lesson, and what will you be told afterwards?
- Who decides the schedule, and how is it changed?
- What happens if your child wants to stop?
- What does the provider say it does and does not include?
For our service, these details are discussed directly with the teacher after the trial. You can use the post-trial reflection guide to arrange your questions beforehand. If the answer is “we will confirm”, ask when.
What if your child needs help in more than one subject?
Choose the subject where one more lesson would change the most. That is usually the nearest exam or the subject that causes the most worry at home.
You can look at Cambridge IGCSE tuition to see how each subject is taught. You do not have to decide for all subjects now.
How to use this before you enquire
Fill in the worksheet, then send one WhatsApp message with the subject, the gap in your own words and the date that matters. We assign an experienced teacher and confirm the trial rate before the class.
After the lesson, you and your child can compare what you saw with what you wrote down. Read how the trial works for the full steps.
