This tool helps you compare places where you might study or join an online one-to-one lesson, such as home, a relative’s house or a public space. You enter the options and the facts you have checked, and it shows what is confirmed, what is unknown and what to check next.
It is built so that an unchecked answer can never look like a confirmed one.
How do I use the tool?
- Type your locality in your own words. It is only for your notes.
- Name each option with your own label. You can compare up to four options.
- Record your source and date. Add the page or note you checked and the date you checked it.
- Optionally add travel time one way (minutes) and cost per visit (RM).
- Answer six questions for each option: WiFi usable for an online lesson, allowed to speak or make video calls, allowed to stay for a few hours, quiet enough, power socket, and open at your lesson time. Each answer is Unknown, Yes or No.
- Press Comparison. Use Download checklist to save the result, or Reset to start again.
How do I read the result?
The table shows each option side by side. A yes counts as Confirmed yes only if the option has both a source and a date. A yes without them shows as “Said yes, but not verified: treated as unknown”. A no also needs a source and date to count as confirmed.
Travel time and cost are shown only if you entered them, and the lowest entered value is marked. Below the table, each option gets a list of items “to check before you rely on it”, and a readiness route.
Worked example
The tool starts with two options. Option A has WiFi and calls set to Yes, but no source or date. Option B has everything Unknown.
Press Comparison. Option A still shows WiFi and calls as “Said yes, but not verified: treated as unknown”. Its readiness route says it is not ready and lists what to confirm first.
Now you phone or message the place and ask: “Can I use your WiFi for a video lesson and speak quietly?” They say yes. You type “Front desk, told by phone” in the source box and choose today’s date. You also set quiet and power to Yes. Press Comparison again.
Now all four lesson needs (WiFi, speaking or calls, quiet, power) are Confirmed yes. The route says to do a short test call before the real lesson.
What is the usual mistake?
The usual mistake is assuming. “The cafe near school probably has WiFi” or “the library allows calls” can leave you with no connection or an awkward conversation at lesson time. Ask the provider directly and write down when you asked.
Assumptions and limits
The tool uses only the answers you give it, and your entries stay on your own device. Nothing is pre-filled with real venues, prices or distances. It is not a branch locator, an approval badge for any centre, or a promise of facilities.
