How your child's teacher is assigned

Before a first lesson, families reasonably want to know who will teach and how that is decided.

Your teacher is assigned by us after you tell us what you need. You send a WhatsApp enquiry, an experienced teacher is assigned for your subject, the rate is confirmed, and you take a paid one-hour trial. Everything after that is agreed directly between you and the teacher.

This page walks through each step, so you know what to prepare and what to expect.

What are the steps from enquiry to trial?

  1. You enquire on WhatsApp. This is the only enquiry route: no forms, email or calls.
  2. We ask a few questions. Subject and code, exam year, current level, sticking points, and when you can study.
  3. An experienced teacher is assigned for your subject and situation.
  4. The rate is confirmed before the lesson. Trials start from RM80, and the actual rate is the assigned teacher’s.
  5. You take the paid one-hour trial. It is a taught class, paid at the confirmed rate.
  6. You decide what happens next. Ongoing arrangements are agreed directly with the teacher.

What do we ask, and why does each question matter?

We askWhy it matters
Subject and four-digit codeDifferent codes have different syllabuses
Exam year or seriesIt decides which version of the syllabus applies
Current level and recent resultsIt sets the starting point for the trial
Two sticking pointsThe first hour can be spent on real problems
Days and times you can studyThe teacher needs to fit your week
Anything you want to avoid or preferTeaching style can matter as much as content

You do not need all of it perfect. Send what you have, and mark unknowns as unknown. The trial agenda builder helps you organise it.

Worked example: a brief that works

Hui Ying writes: “Chemistry 0620, exam in the May/June series next year. I’m comfortable with atoms and bonding, but I lose marks on mole calculations and the six-mark explanation questions. I can study Tuesday and Thursday evenings.”

That is enough to assign an experienced Chemistry teacher and plan the hour: one mole question, one explanation question, time to talk about how she currently approaches them.

A vaguer message, such as “I need Chemistry help”, is still fine to send. We will ask follow-up questions, and the trial will take longer to get going.

What does “experienced” mean here?

We describe our service as a team of experienced teachers, and we assign one to you. The site describes the teaching team as a whole, and it is independent of Cambridge.

What you can judge is the lesson. Notice whether the teacher asks about your code, looks at your actual errors, explains in a way you can follow, and is clear about what the next step would be.

What do you confirm before the lesson?

  • The subject and code the teacher has noted.
  • The date and time of the trial.
  • The rate for the trial, which is the assigned teacher’s confirmed rate.
  • What you will bring: past questions, notes and your two sticking points.

If any of these are unclear, ask before the lesson. The one-hour trial agenda builder includes a reminder to check the rate.

What are the limits?

The trial is one hour and cannot cover a whole syllabus. It shows you how the teacher works and what the next steps might look like.

Ongoing prices, packages and schedules are agreed directly between student and teacher after the trial. Exam entry, registration and results are handled by your school or exam centre.

How does this fit into your decision?

If you are still choosing between options, one-to-one versus group tuition and what “from RM80” means may help. To compare tuition offers fairly, see comparing scope before price.

Our service has helped 9,000+ students overall. For the full trial details see the trial page, and for the whole journey see how it works.

Next steps

  1. Write the subject, code and exam year.
  2. Pick two sticking points, with a past question each if you can.
  3. Note the days and times you can study.
  4. Send it on WhatsApp.

Questions people ask

Do I choose my teacher from a list?

No. You tell us the subject, code, exam year and what you need, and an experienced teacher is assigned to you. The trial lesson is where you see whether the teaching fits. What happens afterwards is agreed directly between you and the teacher.

What do you need to know before assigning a teacher?

The subject name and four-digit code, your exam year, your current level, two specific sticking points, and the days and times you can study. Past questions you lost marks on are useful. The clearer the brief, the better the first hour can be planned.

When do I find out the rate?

The assigned teacher's rate is confirmed before the trial lesson, and the trial is paid at that rate. Trials start from RM80, but the actual rate depends on the assigned teacher and is confirmed first.

What happens after the trial?

You and the teacher decide together whether and how to continue. Fees, schedules and support for ongoing lessons are agreed directly between student and teacher after the trial. You can also decide not to continue.

Can you tell me the teacher's qualifications before I decide?

We describe the service as a team of experienced teachers. Questions about the teacher's experience with your code are welcome in the trial, and the lesson itself is the clearest way to judge fit. Ask what you want to know and judge from the answers.
