Cambridge IGCSE is examined in two series each year, June and November. Results follow in August and January. Your centre decides which of these it offers, so the first thing to confirm is which series your centre will enter you for.
This page gives the pattern, shows how to build a timeline from it, and says who handles what. Exact dates are published by Cambridge for each series.
What are the exam series?
A series is a period in which Cambridge sets exam papers for all centres. The IGCSE qualification page lists June and November as the two sessions each year.
| Series | Results released | Who to ask about entry |
|---|---|---|
| June | August | Your centre or school |
| November | January | Your centre or school |
Cambridge publishes the date and time of each results release on its results page, so check that page for the series you are in.
Which series should you aim for?
Choose the series that gives enough preparation time and fits your next step. A student finishing a two-year school course normally sits the series their school enters them for.
A private candidate has more choice, but the centre must offer it. Ask the centre which series it supports for your subjects before you plan, using the private-candidate centre questions.
How do you build a study timeline?
Work backwards from the series. Put the exam month at the end, then mark the entry deadline your centre gives you, then leave room for revision.
- Write the exam series and the entry deadline.
- List the subjects and the topics you are least sure of.
- Allow time for past papers in the final stretch.
- Add a short buffer for any practical or oral component.
The realistic revision planner can turn this into weekly blocks. If you are a private candidate, the full sequence is in the registration steps, and a note on local deadlines explains why the centre’s date is the one that counts.
How are results released and collected?
Cambridge says schools inform students when results are available, and candidates either collect them in person or receive a password for the secure results website. For private candidates, results and certificates are collected through the centre.
If you want a result reviewed, Cambridge says to consult the school first, which advises on formal enquiries. Read results and enquiries for the route in more detail, and grading and thresholds for how grades work.
What if you miss a series or want to retake?
Missing a series means waiting for the next one, so confirm entry deadlines early. Cambridge sets its own cut-offs, and your centre usually sets an earlier one.
For a retake, check that the centre accepts it for your subject and whether the syllabus code is unchanged. The syllabus-finding guide shows how to check.
Where does tuition fit?
Tuition prepares a student for the exam, and the exam centre handles the entry and results. Our service is online one-to-one Cambridge IGCSE tuition anywhere in Malaysia.
The paid one-hour trial starts from RM80 at the assigned teacher’s confirmed rate, and other arrangements are agreed with the teacher afterwards. Tell the teacher which series you are aiming for so the first lesson can focus on what matters.
