For parents

The paid trial, explained in your language

Some parents read English comfortably for school but prefer to decide about money and lessons in Bahasa Melayu or Chinese.

On this page
  1. What exactly is the paid trial?
  2. How does it work, step by step?
  3. Which language will the trial be in?
  4. What terms should you check in any language?
  5. Can an English term be explained in BM or Chinese?

The paid trial is a one-hour, one-to-one Cambridge IGCSE lesson with an experienced teacher assigned to your child. It starts from RM80 at the assigned teacher’s confirmed rate, and the rate is confirmed before the lesson.

This page sets out the same information in plain terms, for families who prefer to read about it in BM or Chinese. You can read the same page in those languages from the language switcher.

What exactly is the paid trial?

It is a taught class, not a talk about the service. Your child works with the teacher on a real topic for one hour, so you can judge the teaching from what your child experienced.

Because it is paid, the teacher plans the hour properly. You can help by sending a goal beforehand, as described in defining an observable trial goal.

How does it work, step by step?

  1. You send a WhatsApp message. Give your child’s subject, year and the date that matters. You can write in BM, Chinese or English.
  2. We assign an experienced teacher. This is the team’s decision, based on the subject and your message.
  3. The trial rate is confirmed. It starts from RM80 and is confirmed before the lesson.
  4. The lesson happens online. One hour, one-to-one, with your child and the teacher.
  5. You decide. After the lesson, you and your child choose whether to continue. Later arrangements are discussed directly with the teacher.

The full outline is on how the trial works.

Which language will the trial be in?

There are two separate questions here. The first is the language you use to enquire and read about the service: we offer English, BM and Chinese on this site, and you can message in the one you prefer.

The second is the language of teaching during the lesson. Cambridge IGCSE exams are taken in English, so your child needs to learn the English terms. Some families also want explanations in BM or Chinese alongside them.

Tell us your preference in your first message and we will confirm what can be arranged. Read more in requesting a teaching language.

What terms should you check in any language?

Whatever language you read in, confirm these before the lesson:

  • The trial rate for your child’s assigned teacher
  • The date and time of the class
  • The subject and topic you want covered
  • Who will pay and how, in your household

Keep the WhatsApp message as your record.

Can an English term be explained in BM or Chinese?

Often yes, and it can help understanding. The English, BM and Chinese concept bridge shows one term in three languages with an example. It does not promise that a teacher is available in a particular language. It helps your child connect an idea they know in one language to the English word the exam uses.

For the subject your child is taking, see Cambridge IGCSE tuition.

Questions people ask

Is the trial a paid class?

Yes. It is a paid, taught one-hour class, starting from RM80 at the assigned teacher's confirmed rate. The rate is confirmed before the lesson. It is a real lesson, so your child can judge the teaching itself.

Can I enquire in BM or Chinese?

Yes, you can send your WhatsApp message in the language you prefer. Say which language you would like to use. We will reply with what can be arranged, and the details are confirmed before the lesson.

Will the trial be taught in BM or Chinese?

Write your preference in your first message. Cambridge IGCSE exams are assessed in English, so teachers usually need to use English terms. Whether another language can be used in the lesson is confirmed with you before the trial.

What happens after the trial?

You and your child decide whether to continue. Fees, schedules and other arrangements are confirmed directly between your child and the teacher. The trial does not commit you to anything.
