0265 is a second Cambridge code connected with IGCSE Computer Science, and what applies to you depends on your entry. This page does not describe its content, dates or availability. It tells you what to check, and where.
The official source is the Cambridge overview page linked below. It carries any notices, and it should win over anything written here or in a revision guide.
Why does a second code matter?
Revision is most effective when it follows one confirmed syllabus. Two codes with similar subject names can make it easy to pull notes from the wrong place. Before you revise, you need to know which code is on your entry and which exam year it applies to.
Our own Computer Science guidance follows 0478 by default. Read the 0478 code guide for that profile, and use this page to decide whether 0265 is relevant for you.
How do I check whether 0265 applies to me?
- Ask your school or exam centre which code and exam year you are entered for, in writing.
- Open the Cambridge 0265 overview page and read what is published there, including any notices.
- Open the Cambridge 0478 subject page and read how it describes its own syllabus.
- Record what you found in the syllabus navigator, including anything that is still unresolved.
- Compare versions with the syllabus version viewer before you use notes from another year or code.
If the two pages leave a question open, take it to your exam centre. They enter you for the exam and will know what applies to your entry.
What should I not assume?
- Do not assume equivalence. Two codes with similar names are not interchangeable until Cambridge says so.
- Do not assume availability. Whether a route is open to you depends on Cambridge and your exam centre, not on this site.
- Do not assume a date. If a guide gives a year for a change, check it against the Cambridge page for your own exam year.
Computer Science versus ICT
Computer Science and ICT are separate subjects. A resource labelled for ICT should not be assumed to cover Computer Science, whichever code you are working towards.
What should I ask my exam centre?
- Which code and exam year am I entered for?
- Which exam series am I entered for? Do not assume a series.
- How is each paper taken at your centre? If any part uses a screen, what arrangements apply?
- What are the registration and entry deadlines?
Private candidates deal with the centre and Cambridge directly. Follow the Cambridge guidance and confirm details with your chosen centre.
Where we stand
We are a team of teachers, not an exam centre, so we cannot enter you for any code. We do not state paper numbers, durations, weightings, dates or route availability here. Where a fact needs checking, we say which Cambridge page to read.
Where to go next
Read the lesson treat future 0265 availability as source-gated rather than an existing service promise and the wider digital versus paper route checking. Then set a plan with the study route guide and see the Computer Science learning guide.
Once you know which code applies, online one-to-one Computer Science tuition can start from your confirmed entry and your exam year.
