We teach online, one to one, for students across Malaysia.
Below is what each subject asks of a teacher. Use it to name the subjects you teach and the codes you know. Listing a subject does not imply an opening.
Mathematics (0580, 0607)
Students arrive with gaps from earlier years, so a teacher needs to find the missing step quickly. You should know how 0580 and International Mathematics 0607 differ and be able to show full working in a shared writing space.
Additional Mathematics (0606)
This subject leans on algebra, functions, trigonometry and calculus. A strong teacher can tell whether a student is stuck on the new idea or on algebra from earlier, and rebuild from there.
English First Language (0500)
Teaching here is about writing and reading at a higher level: shaping an argument, controlling tone and analysing how a writer achieves an effect. You should be able to give feedback on a student’s own paragraph.
English as a Second Language (0510, 0511)
Learners are building the language. Clear modelling, patient correction and listening and speaking practice matter. Know the difference between the two entry routes.
Biology, Chemistry and Physics (0610, 0620, 0625)
Each needs accurate explanation, careful use of terms and help with data questions. Experiments are explained as concepts only, and practical work stays the student’s own.
Combined Science (0653) and Co-ordinated Sciences (0654)
Teachers cross the three sciences and know that 0653 is single-award and 0654 is the double-award route. Clear boundaries between the two help students study the right scope.
Global Perspectives (0457)
This is a skills course in research, evidence, perspective and reflection. Teachers coach the process without writing assessed reports for the student.
French (0520)
Listening, reading, speaking and writing all count. A teacher should be comfortable speaking French in the lesson and using original material. This route is Foreign Language only.
Malay (0546, 0696)
Foreign Language Malay and First Language Malay are different courses, and neither is the same as SPM Bahasa Melayu. A teacher should know which route a student is on.
Chinese and Mandarin (0509, 0523, 0547)
First Language, Second Language and Foreign Language Mandarin have different task demands. Teachers should be able to work in Chinese and match feedback to the route.
Business (0450, 0264)
Students need to apply concepts to a scenario and justify a decision. Teachers should be aware of the two codes and use original business examples.
Accounting (0452)
Method and accuracy lead. A teacher reads a student’s working line by line, spots repeated small errors and explains the reason behind each step.
Economics (0455)
Teachers explain models and graphs and help students move from describing to evaluating. Examples should be original and kept free of political opinion.
History (0470)
Teachers separate fact, source viewpoint and interpretation. Know which options a school uses, because not every student studies the same topics.
Geography (0460)
This subject links places, processes and data. Case-study facts need dates and sources, and students may take a fieldwork or alternative route.
Computer Science (0478, 0265) and ICT (0417)
These are separate subjects. Computer Science covers algorithms, data and programming, while ICT covers practical data, document and web tasks. Know which code and exam year you teach.
