One page of your child’s working is enough to start a trial lesson. It shows how they think, where the method breaks and what they need next. A report card, a full set of results or a school portal login adds nothing to that.
This page explains what to share, what to keep back and how to prepare a page in two minutes.
Why less is better
A teacher learns more from five lines of working than from a grade. “62 percent” does not say whether the problem is algebra, reading the question or running out of time. The working does.
Sharing less also keeps your family’s information where it belongs. School records contain names, class lists, teacher comments and sometimes other students’ details. None of it helps with a lesson.
What counts as a useful page?
The most useful page is the one your child found hardest this week. Look for:
- a question they could not finish, with the attempt still visible
- a corrected question, with their original mistake still readable
- a short paragraph or answer they were unhappy with
Avoid pages that are only ticks and marks, because they show a result and not a method.
Two-minute preparation checklist
- Choose one page linked to one of the two sticking points.
- Cover the header. Hide the full name, class, school name and student number with paper or a sticky note.
- Check the margins for teacher comments that name other students or identify the school.
- Keep it your child’s own work. Do not add a parent’s corrections.
- Decide how to show it. Hold it to the camera, or rewrite the question on fresh paper during the lesson.
What to keep out of sharing
| Keep private | Share if useful |
|---|---|
| Report cards and rank in class | One page of working on a topic |
| Full name, IC number, student number | A first name, if your child is happy with it |
| Class lists and teacher remarks about others | A question and the attempt |
| School portal logins | The topic name from the syllabus |
Your child’s exam results and school details are yours to keep. The trial does not require them.
How does this connect to the agenda?
The trial agenda builder asks for two sticking points and optional notes. You can write “page 14, question 6, stuck after expanding the brackets” without attaching anything. The agenda works in your browser, and your notes stay on your device.
You can read what the website tools do and do not collect in understanding what public learning tools do not collect and on the privacy page.
If you are unsure
Ask the question before the lesson, through WhatsApp. For a student under 18, the responsible adult confirms arrangements, and who should confirm a minor’s lesson arrangement is worth settling at home first.
Fees, schedule and ongoing arrangements are confirmed directly with the teacher after the paid trial. The trial itself is a one-hour taught class at the assigned teacher’s confirmed rate, starting from RM80.
Next steps
If you have not yet prepared your child’s two sticking points, start with preparing a learning discussion. When you are ready, see how the paid trial works, or return to the parents’ guide.
