Students in Pulau Pinang can study Cambridge IGCSE with one-to-one online lessons from an experienced teacher assigned to them. You join from home, so a class no longer depends on where you live or how long the trip takes.
The service is the same as across Malaysia. This page covers what is useful if you study in Penang.
Which parts of Penang do we serve?
Penang has five districts, two on the island and three on the mainland. On the island they are Timur Laut and Barat Daya. On the mainland they are Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan.
Students join from towns such as George Town, Bayan Lepas, Balik Pulau, Butterworth, Bukit Mertajam, Kepala Batas, Nibong Tebal and Simpang Ampat. These are places we serve online. We have no office in any of them, and we do not claim teachers based there.
Why do students in Penang choose online lessons?
Two places can be close on a map and still far apart on a weekday evening, especially when the trip crosses between island and mainland. Online lessons remove the crossing.
That matters most when the week already includes school, co-curricular activities and other tuition. A lesson that starts when you sit down at your desk leaves more of the evening for the work the teacher sets.
It also widens your options. You are not limited to the subjects and timetable of whatever is offered within reach of your neighbourhood.
Can you study different subjects with different teachers?
Yes. Each subject is taught separately, so a student can work on, for instance, Chemistry and Mathematics in different lessons. The sensible approach is to start with the subject that is causing the most stress and review after the trial.
Arrangements for further lessons are agreed directly with the teacher assigned for that subject.
Set up a lesson space at home
Good lessons need less than people expect, but they need it to work on the day.
- A device with a clear camera and microphone, and headphones if the house is noisy.
- Pen, paper and, where the subject allows, a calculator.
- The work you want to cover: a past paper, homework you got wrong, or a topic list.
- A test run of your video call before the first lesson.
The online-lesson readiness check covers each item. If you want to use the hour well, the one-hour trial agenda builder helps you plan what to ask.
International schools and private candidates
Students in Penang prepare for IGCSE in different ways. Some study at a school that runs Cambridge courses and is also its own exam centre. Others study at a national or private school and sit the exam as a private candidate.
Who handles your entry depends on which group you are in.
- School runs IGCSE: ask your school office about entry, fees and deadlines.
- Private candidate: ask an exam centre that accepts external candidates about series, fees and where practical or speaking components are held. Use the private-candidate readiness checklist.
We are not an exam centre. See exams and entry for how the process fits together.

Start with a paid one-hour trial lesson at your assigned teacher’s confirmed rate, from RM80. The exact rate is confirmed before the lesson, and it is a taught class.
Enquire on WhatsApp with your subject, year and what you want to work on. After the trial, fees and schedule are agreed directly between you and the teacher. Read how it works and about the trial first if you like.
