Choose practice by a simple test: the task names your code, fits your syllabus year and follows the instructions on your own paper. A task that fails any of those is extra reading, not exam practice.
This is the last lesson of Chinese qualification identification and uses everything from lessons one to four.
What does the test look like?
Ask three questions in order: does the label match my code, does the year fit my syllabus, and do the instructions match my paper?
If the answer is yes three times, the task is a good fit. If one is unknown, find out before spending time.
A step-by-step selection
- List your confirmed facts: code, series, script and response notes.
- Sort your tasks into fits, unconfirmed and other route.
- Plan the week: mostly fits, a little reading from the others.
- Record results in your mistake log.
Worked example
An invented learner, Daniel (fictional), has four items and a confirmed entry of 0547.
任务甲:0547,示范短文 任务乙:0509,议论文 任务丙:未标注 任务丁:0547,旧版本年份未知
甲: code fits, check year. 乙: other route, reading only. 丙: unlabelled, set aside until confirmed. 丁: code fits but year unknown, check the syllabus first.
His week: 甲 after the year check, 乙 as reading for vocabulary, 丙 and 丁 on hold.
The mistake to watch for
Mistaken approach: “The task is in Chinese, so it is relevant.”
Language alone does not tell you the qualification. The correction is to use the three-question test every time, even for tasks that look familiar.
Check yourself
1. A task is labelled with your code but no year. What do you do?
Show answer
Check the syllabus for your exam year first, then decide whether to use it as exam-style practice.
2. A task is labelled 0509 and you are 0523. How do you use it?
Show answer
As clearly labelled extra reading, not as a model for your own answers.
3. Which comes first: choosing a tool or choosing a task?
Show answer
The task, by the three-question test. The tools help with a task you have already chosen.
