0264 is the Cambridge code for IGCSE Business, which Cambridge identifies for first assessment in 2027. It identifies the qualification on entry forms and syllabus documents, and it is the first thing to confirm before you choose what to revise.
This page states only what is stable and tells you where to check the rest. The official source is always the Cambridge subject page linked below.
What does the code tell you?
The code names the qualification, not your exam year. For Business, the code and the exam year must be checked together, because Cambridge lists both 0264 and the earlier Business Studies 0450. One of them applies to you depending on your year and what your centre enters you for.
The search label many people use is still “Business Studies”. We keep one Business learning guide with version-aware notes, so the name on the cover of a book is never enough to decide.
How do I confirm my syllabus in five steps?
- Ask your school or exam centre for your entry code and exam year, in writing.
- Open the Cambridge 0264 subject page and find the syllabus document listed for your year.
- Record the document name and year at the start of your revision file.
- Use the syllabus navigator to write down what you confirmed and what is still unresolved.
- Compare versions with the syllabus version viewer if you are using older notes or textbooks that carry a different code.
What should I check with my exam centre?
Your exam centre handles things that we and this site cannot. Ask them:
- Which code and exam year are you entered for?
- Which exam series are you entered for? A reference to first assessment does not establish that a Malaysian centre offers March entry.
- What are the registration and entry deadlines?
- Are there access arrangements you need to request?
Private candidates also deal with the centre and Cambridge directly. Follow the Cambridge guidance and confirm details with the centre you plan to use.
Is 0264 the same as 0450?
No. They are separate codes.
Business Studies 0450 applies for its applicable examination years and Business 0264 is the newer course Cambridge identifies for first assessment in 2027. Do not assume topics, wording or assessment match, and compare the documents for your year.
The difficulty page on telling 0450 from 0264 shows a worked routine, and the 0450 code guide explains the earlier code. The 2027 change guide lists what to verify.
A short example of using the code
A student has an entry form that says 0264 with an exam year in 2027, and a revision book that says 0450. The student opens the 0264 page, downloads the syllabus document for that year and writes its name at the start of the file.
The book is marked “check first”. Each chapter that matches the topic list stays in the plan, and the rest are set aside and discussed with the teacher.
The habit matters more than the answer: the code and the year decide what goes into the revision plan.
What do we not state here?
We do not list paper numbers, durations, weightings, topic changes or grade thresholds on this page. Those belong to Cambridge and can differ between syllabus versions. The Cambridge subject page and the syllabus document are the place to read them.
Where to go next
Build a plan with the study route guide, read how the paper route works in the assessment guide and see the whole subject in the Business learning guide.
Once your code and year are confirmed, online one-to-one Business tuition can start from the right syllabus instead of a guess.
