0450 is the Cambridge code for IGCSE Business Studies. It identifies the qualification on entry forms, syllabus documents and past papers, and it is the first thing to confirm before you choose what to revise.
This page states only what is stable and tells you where to check the rest. The official source is always the Cambridge subject page linked below.
What does the code tell you?
The code names the qualification, not the exam year. The same code can appear across several years, and Cambridge publishes a syllabus document for the years it covers.
For Business, there is one extra step. Cambridge also lists Business 0264, which it identifies for first assessment in 2027.
So for this subject the code and the exam year must be checked together. We use one Business learning guide with version-aware notes so that you do not have to hunt for two separate courses.
How do I confirm my syllabus in five steps?
- Ask your school or exam centre for your entry code and exam year, in writing.
- Open the Cambridge 0450 subject page and read the syllabus document and notices listed there.
- Record the document name and year at the start of your revision file.
- Use the syllabus navigator to write down what you confirmed and what is still unresolved. For 0450 with an exam year in 2027, it flags a transition check rather than supplying a guide for a different year.
- Compare versions with the syllabus version viewer if you are using older notes, a textbook or past papers that carry a different code.
What should I check with my exam centre?
Your exam centre handles things that we and this site cannot. Ask them:
- Which code and exam year are you entered for?
- Which exam series are you entered for? Do not assume March, May/June or October/November.
- What are the registration and entry deadlines?
- Are there access arrangements you need to request?
Private candidates also deal with the centre and Cambridge directly. Follow the Cambridge guidance and confirm details with the centre you plan to use.
Is 0450 the same as 0264?
No. They are separate codes.
Cambridge identifies Business 0264 for first assessment in 2027, and Business Studies 0450 applies for its applicable examination years. Do not assume that topics, wording or assessment match, and compare the documents for your own year.
The difficulty page on telling 0450 from 0264 shows a worked routine, and the 0264 code guide explains the newer code. The 2027 change guide lists what to verify.
A short example of using the code
A student has a revision book that says “Business Studies 0450” and an entry form that says 0450 with an exam year listed on the Cambridge page. The student opens the 0450 page, downloads the syllabus document for that year and writes its name at the start of the file.
Anything in the book that matches the topic list stays in the plan. Anything that does not match is set aside and discussed with the teacher.
The habit matters more than the answer: the code and the year decide what goes into the revision plan.
What do we not state here?
We do not list paper numbers, durations, weightings, topic changes or grade thresholds on this page. Those belong to Cambridge and can differ between syllabus versions. The Cambridge subject page and the syllabus document are the place to read them.
Where to go next
Build a plan with the study route guide, read how the paper route works in the assessment guide and see the whole subject in the Business learning guide.
Once your code and year are confirmed, online one-to-one Business tuition can start from the right syllabus instead of a guess.
