- 在衔接处加定位短语: “at the mouth of”、“ten steps in”、“past the”、“at the far end”。
题目: Describe a night market alley。
At the mouth of the alley, the smell of charcoal arrived before the lights did. Ten steps in, stalls crowded both sides, their awnings overlapping until the sky shrank to a thin dark strip. Halfway along, the alley widened around a table of fruit, where a woman in an orange apron rearranged rambutans under a bare bulb. Past her, the crowd thinned, and at the far end a single stall selling roasted chestnuts glowed alone against the car park wall.
Lanterns hung from the awnings. Puddles shone on the ground. A string of bulbs crossed above the stalls. A child’s sandal lay near the drain.
“Lanterns and a string of bulbs hung from the awnings, and under them the stalls glowed. Lower down, puddles shone on the ground, and near the drain lay a child’s sandal.”
(A) At the far end a door stood ajar. (B) The front door opened into a corridor lined with coats. (C) Halfway along, a staircase climbed into darkness. (D) Shoes sat in pairs beneath the coats.
The hall ceiling was lined with fans. The floor was scuffed near the entrance. Above the stage hung a banner. By the door a mat was curled at the corner.”
